ABOUTA global online and interactive music video festival
The fourth edition of the IMVF continued its upward trajectory. The IMVF Futures was again a resounding success and the second session of the Young Film Academy workshop was attended by new and old students from the island.
The online music video competition attracted some simply spectacular videos and our judges once more were hard put to choose the best in competition. 2016 also saw two new additions to the festival, the online competition for best Short Film and best Documentary, which was judged by Thom Trigger and again showed some extraordinary talent.
Rupert Bryan and Elizabeth Fear founded the event in 2013 and last year James Kirkham and Jack Horner helped to shape the IMVF Futures, a select invitation only series of mini conferences which has led to the inclusion in the event for 2017 of the IMVF Tomorrow’s World section of the event which will be open to a wider range of creatives from all sides of the audio visual world.
Principal supporters of the IMVF are the San Jose Town Council, the Council of Ibiza, SONY, SuzCruz, MyManagement, Blue Marlin, Ibizkus and Bodegas Can Rich.
The IMVF with its multiple competitions, and focus on education, together with its workshops and intimate conferences is unique and has the added advantage of taking place on the fabulous island of Ibiza. 2017 will bring even more content to the event. More on this soon.
The Simple beginnings of the IMVF have now
grown into four elements that form the IMVF family
A series of fascinating workshops and lectures for both professionals and beginners, production, direction, editing, creative direction and all the technology that surrounds getting a music film or documentary from an idea, through to production and distribution. PLUS – Get to pitch your idea to the professionals in a “speed dating” event.
A premium and exclusive CEO level forum held at Pikes. Structured like a club – invitation only with a set number of attendees each year. It’s a response to too many content conferences in the world – and brings together decision makers, experienced film producers, CEO’s of technology companies, music brands, record labels and sharp thinkers from the some of the worlds leading advertising and digital agencies.
A brilliant ‘Make a Video in a day’ course teaches everything one needs to know about planning, shooting and editing a video, with the added advantage of a very reduced cost to attend and a copy of the finished video to take home at the end of the day. Plus a series of fascinating workshops and lectures for both professionals and beginners.
THE FILM CLUB
A year round incentive in which the young enthusiasts from the island will be able to continue to learn and grow in the industry via a series of fascinating workshops, lectures and practical lessons in all aspects of the audio visual world.
We are very much looking forward to being part of this year’s IMVF. It is a priority for Sony to support the creative community with tecnology and education wherever possible and the festival offers both these things.James Leach
